Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) |
The passing of an electric current generates an electromagnetic field.
This phenomenon is also created during the ignition process and the intensity increases greatly every time that a spark is released between the electrodes, creating high voltage peaks that travel through the spark plug wires.
High intensity electromagnetic fields can cause interference to the car’s electronic equipment (radio, gearbox, engine or ABS control units); for this reason it is absolutely necessary to keep them within certain limits which are not harmful.
For this reason, the spark plug wires are produced with a resistance that reduces the voltage peaks from the moment the spark is released.
