Wires with inductive reactance |
As well as for the carbon-resistant wires, the spark plug wires with inductive reactance have a central core made of fibreglass wrapped in a layer of conductive and magnetic material.
The characteristic of this type of wire is that the whole unit enclosed by a stainless steel wire wrapping that enables the phenomenon of electromagnetism to be generated through an induced voltage.
In this type of wire the accumulated voltage in the ignition coil generates an induced magnetic field.
The resistance inherent in the wire (inductive resistance) is defined as inductive reactance and varies depending on the number of engine revolutions.
The materials used for the wire’s wrappings are able to give the component adequate stiffness and traction resistance. The outer rubber sheath can withstand high temperatures and the corrosive action of petrol and oil.
Also in this case, the resistance is measured linearly and can vary between about 2.2 kΩ and 8 kΩ for each metre of wire.
